This month’s community meeting will be held on September 25, 2025 from 6PM – 8PM EST. The event will be hosted by John Loeppky and Ariana Martinez and will focus on Disabled editors.

This month’s gathering will emphasize the importance of Disabled editors in newsrooms and provide a space for these vital members of newsrooms to share ideas, concerns, ask for support, and connect with each other. The space will also be open to anyone who is interested to hear disabled editors’ perspectives or has aspirations of being an editor–whether that’s on-staff or as a freelancer/independent journalist. This meeting is also not just open to Disabled editors, but to those who work as editors but do not identify with the label. The event’s hosts both have extensive experience holding spaces like these inside and outside of news environments.

As a rule, all information shared among group members in these meetings should remain private and contained to the meeting space. Group members who are concerned about security and privacy should feel free to use an alternate name or otherwise remain anonymous. Group members should feel comfortable participating with the cameras off and/or through the chat function if necessary.
